Board of Directors

 

 

The board of the QCIWS encourages diversity of perspectives, creates vision for the future,
provides leadership and provides long and short term planning in accordance
with the mission statement and the mandates of the Society.

 

 

IWS is consensus, feminist-based society. This means that all decisions must be debated until there is a consensus between the board and all members of staff. A consensus means that all members are content with the decision. To see how we are structured, click here.

 

 

The Board of Directors meet once a month, and deal with such topics as:

 

 

Any woman in the community can become a member of the Board of Directors. It is a wonderful opportunity to contribute in a meaningful manner to the well-being of the various communities on Haida Gwaii/the Queen Charlotte Islands.

 

 

Steps for becoming a Board Member:

 

  1. Attend a board meeting (as an introduction to the society)
  2. Become a member of IWS
  3. Fill in an expression of interest form to become of board member
  4. You will then be appointed by an existing board member to the board, unless there is a perceived conflict of interest or non-adherence to board criteria.
