There are two ways to become involved with the Islands Women Society. One is to become a general member, and the other is to join the Board of Directors.
Becoming a General Member
General Members pay one time fee of $10. (Membership Form) This fee supports IWS in many ways. Our non-program specific capital is used to fund any activity that involves the whole society. This can be through the acquisition of office equipment, having IWS retreats and Strategic Planning Sessions, Board development initiatives, and community events such as our Open House and participation in community wide Health and Wellbeing events.
Joining the Board of Directors
To become a Director on our Board, you must first become a General Member. It is advised that you also attend a Board of Directors Meeting (which occurs once per month) in order to get a feel for the society and its business. Potential board members then fill out an Expression of Interest form. You will then be considered by the Board and Staff to determine your suitability as a Board Member. The Society conducts activities of an exceedingly sensitive and confidential nature, and as such requires the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct.
